What If Fun Is the Answer?

"Play is not a luxury. Play is a necessity." -Kay Redfield Jamison

MOMENTS OF MASTERY

When was the last time you felt truly happy and free? The last time you genuinely had fun?

For many high-achieving women, fun becomes something that gets pushed to the margins. There’s always something more urgent, more important, more demanding of your time and energy. And over time, that lightness begins to fade.

But here’s what’s often overlooked: fun is not a luxury... it’s a powerful state that directly impacts your clarity, energy, and overall effectiveness.

If you want to experience authentic happiness, there are many paths you can take. But one of the most impactful is also one of the simplest: opening yourself to more joy, playfulness, and lightness in your daily life.

Why does this matter? Because these states create a calm, grounded mindset, and that is where your greatest power resides. When you feel lighter, you think more clearly. You respond rather than react. You access creativity, intuition, and flow.

In my work with clients, one of the consistent themes we explore is how to intentionally bring more lightness into their lives. This includes creating space for laughter, connection, gratitude, and genuine enjoyment—not as an afterthought, but as a priority.

So how do you begin?

Start by shifting your focus. Instead of moving through your day on autopilot, ask yourself: How can I bring a sense of ease or enjoyment into this moment?

This doesn’t require more time. It requires a different approach.

As researcher Dr. Stuart Brown writes, “Play is a state of mind; a certain attitude we can incorporate into any and every activity.”

The shift is not in what you’re doing, but in how you’re experiencing it. And the benefits are significant.

When you intentionally bring more playfulness and joy into your life:

Your relationships become more connected and meaningful

Your team feels more engaged and supported

Your physical and mental well-being improve

Your focus, memory, and overall performance strengthen

What once felt heavy begins to feel more manageable. What once felt forced begins to flow. This is where sustainable success lives—at the intersection of achievement and well-being.

So today, consider this: Where can you allow a little more lightness into your day?

A moment of laughter.

A shift in perspective.

A choice to experience something with more ease.

These small shifts create powerful change. And over time, they reconnect you with a deeper sense of joy, calm, and fulfillment.

Wishing you a week of presence, purpose, and moments that that make you feel truly alive.
