“It is not selfish to love yourself, take care of yourself, and to make your happiness a priority. It’s necessary.” -Mandy Hale

MOMENTS OF MASTERY
We spend much of our lives learning to take care of everyone else.
As leaders, that instinct can become even stronger. We support our teams, solve problems, answer the late-night message, step in when things go wrong, and give our time, expertise, and energy to the people around us.
That’s leadership.
But here’s the part we sometimes forget:
You can’t consistently give your best when you’re running on empty.
Your energy, focus, patience, creativity, and judgment are leadership resources. When you’re depleted, everyone around you feels it. You become more reactive. Small problems feel bigger. Difficult conversations get harder. And instead of leading, you’re simply trying to get through the day.
Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish.
It’s strategic.
Self-renewal doesn't have to mean a week at a spa or an elaborate wellness routine. Sometimes it means getting enough sleep. Saying no. Taking a walk. Turning off your phone. Spending time with people who energize you. Or simply asking yourself, What do I need right now?
That question isn't weakness.
It’s awareness—and awareness is a leadership skill.
Because the way you show up creates a ripple effect.
When you're grounded, energized, and present, you are feeling good. Your team feels it. Your family and friends feel it. Your clients feel it. You create more space for other people to be calm, confident, collaborative, creative, and capable, too.
Your internal state becomes part of your external leadership.
So stop measuring your value by how much you can give, how many problems you can solve, or how exhausted you are at the end of the day.
You don't have to earn the right to take care of yourself.
And you don't have to choose between taking care of yourself and taking care of others.
The more you invest in yourself, the more you have to give.
That's not selfish.
That's joyful, sustainable leadership.
Wishing you a powerful week of clear vision, calm energy, and renewed perspective.
